2022 KTU Session 3

March 19, 2022

Wildlife, bugs, and us

An Interactive Session led by Dr. Luis Escobar

Assistant Professor, Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation, Virginia Tech

Dr. Luis Escobar, from the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech, will tell us about his ongoing research and will explain how he became a scientist of parasites in wildlife.

Are all parasites, such as lice, fleas, worms, and viruses, bad for our health? This talk will navigate across the fascinating world of parasites, especially parasites in wildlife. We will discover the services that parasites provide to wildlife.

A hands-on activity will be done after the presentation. We are mailing home an activity that will require minimal, if anything, supplies from the home. Parents may be needed to assist with poking holes and handling sharp utensils for an activity.
