FAQ

This is a first-come, first-served program open to children between the ages of 9 and 12 (as of September 30, 2023). The program is designed to accommodate up to 160 children from a geographically diverse area.

To keep up with the costs of providing a quality program (approximately $300 per child), there is a nonrefundable registration fee of $120 per child payable upon registration. The fee can be paid by check, debit, or credit card. Parents may also apply for a scholarship at the time of registration. Contact Dr. Kristy Collins with any questions. A KTU t-shirt will be given to all registered participants.

Please contact Dr. Kristy Collins for more information about scholarships. On the registration form, make sure the box is checked to apply for the scholarship.

Kids' Tech University costs approximately $300 per child per semester to pay for supplies, meals, and speakers. For this program to continue, we rely on the generous support of our donors. Any contribution is welcome, please contact Dr. Kristy Collins for more information.

Although we welcome back participants of past programs, we cannot guarantee any child a place until they are registered for the program. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are sorry but there will not be a make up date. No refunds will be issued.

You are signing your child up to attend ALL 4 days: Jan 27, Feb 24, Mar 16, and Apr 6.

Information about the day will be emailed 1 week before the program date.

Please note: You will receive information about the program the Monday before the event date. If you do not receive an agenda, please email Dr. Kristy Collins.

In-Person Program: The program normally starts around 9:30 am (drop off is from 9-9:30 am) and ends around 3:30 pm.

To create a university feel to the program, parents are asked to sit in another lecture lecture hall on campus.

1: 10 for in person sessions.

For an individual emergency we will call 911 and pull the child's 4H Health History form to give to the EMTs. We will also try to reach you at the phone number the parent provides to us on that form. Please keep your cell handy when the kids are in our care and answer all phone calls.

We’ve found that non-enrolled children add an extra burden of complexity in terms of crowd flow and safety and require that you not bring these children to the event. If you bring a child (of any age) not enrolled to the hands-on event we will kindly ask you and your children to leave the event.

Kids will receive a $12 meal voucher to eat in the Owens Food Court on the VT Blacksburg, VA Campus. If you decide to spend more than the $12 you are responsible for the balance.
